This all started a couple weeks ago, when I wanted to use Create-A-World. Unfortunately it still wasn't fixed, so I checked my launcher for a patch and it said my game was up to date. I checked the Sims 3 site and found out there was a new patch, so in order to get my Sims 3 launcher updated I had to uninstall/reinstall the Download Manager. OK, whatever, not too hard. So I did that and I got the patch to show up, thankfully. I installed it, and as it was installing it suddenly stopped and gave me an error message of some kind.
So I closed it, and hoped nothing had gone wrong. I opened my Sims 3 launcher and saw this.
What!? I closed the launcher and opened it over and over, but continued to get the same error. I didn't think it could get worse, but it did.
My laptop stopped working.
It would froze when I did something as simple as a google search, or open up my Documents folder. I would have to restart my computer, and it was insanely slow and I was unable to uninstall anything because of it.
My parents' friend came over and tried to fix my laptop. He's good with computers and did restores and restarts and stuff, not too sure what all he did but he told me that he didn't know what was wrong and that he couldn't fix it.
Then, when I would restart my computer a 'Disc Check' would pop up and scan something on my computer. It would show the progress as it went, and one of the things that kept popping up was '0 bad EA files' or something. EA? Hm.
So my computer was messed up, my Sims was messed up, and on top of that I still couldn't use CAW.
So then I deleted my custom content folder. Over the course of a couple days, my computers performance increased a little bit until I was able to uninstall and reinstall Sims. That helped and from then on it just got better and better; and now it's back to normal.
So I'm pretty sure it all happened because I installed the patch with some bad CC also installed at the same time. Now I know! :s
