Hello Loungers! *Makes self very comfy on the couch* Well, well. *Grabs book out of bag* In this thread you can discuss books you are reading with fellow Loungers and post reviews, if you liked it, info, etc. It can be any book you like! Enjoy the book reviewing book clubbers. (: I am currently reading a book called "Chosen". It is the third book in "The House of Night" series. The first two are callled (in order) Marked and Betrayed. So far through the series, it is a very, very thrilling book with a lot of twists that I really did not expect. In most books I read, I can predict a lot of things and be right, but in this book 80% of the time I was incorrect! I rate this series 4.5/5. It had about 4 spelling errors in it total so far, but I'm sure we all make mistakes! C:
The House of Night series is about a girl called Zoey. In this vampyre world, humans are aware of vampyres existence. There is a thing called being 'Marked'. A Tracker sometimes Marks random humans and then they are transported to a House of Night. They aren't your stero-typical vampyres. They can go outside in the sunlight, they don't have glowing red eyes, fledgings (Marked vampyres that aren't adult vampyres) don't thirst for blood (Though sometimes adult vampyres do) and they don't have ultra pale skin. Zoey was, unfortunately (at the time), Marked by a Tracker one afternoon at school. Her friend, Kayley (I think, sorry!) thought she was a monster and abandoned her during the time. Her parents hated her and her step-loser was anti-vampyre. The only real person who loved her was her Grandma. So, she went to her. Again, unfortunately she knocked her head and was found unconscious and brought to the House of Night. Fledglings alike walked the campus. Zoey was brought to her room-mates room, Stevie-Rae and felt all warm. Neferet, the High Prietess of The House of Night, was Zoey's mentor. She was like a mother... but maybe she wasn't as sweet as she thought.
Zoey meets friends of Stevie-Rae's and they all instantly like each other. Zoey finally feels like she fits in when she sees Aphrodite and Erik (Oh god he was hot - Zoey P:) doing some... erh... sexual stuff in the hallway on her first day there. Aphrodite is the leader of the Dark Daughters and a real female dog. All is not what it seems. When Zoey was Marked, her cresent moon above her head (all fledglings and adult vampyres have them, but adult vampyres have theirs coloured in) was colored in! At the end of the book, it is extended...
Ooh, sounds interesting? I really love it and sorry for so much info! It's just so much goes on. I really, really liked it. I recommend it to anyone who loves vampires, fantasy, twists, romance and adventure. (; P.S. Holy... I made a hugely long thread. ;D

*Plops across from Rainyy and drapes feet over arm of couch.* Lol, but you put it in a Spoiler, which I appreciate! I took a sneek peek at it, and realized that it was a book my roomate is reading, and I will be as soon as she finishes, so proably tonight! When I realized what it was, it was nice to be able to hide it. Otherwise my wandering eyes would read it all, and I don't know how much of the plot was given away, lol. The book I just finished last night has allready been made into a TV series. Anyone seen BloodTies? I finished the first book of that series Blood Price by Tanya Huff. It was fast paced, right up to the end. Infact, the end was kinda abrupt. There was so much detail, and then it was like, And Then He Saved The Day! Woo-hoo! (Woo-hoo should not be taken in TS2 connatation, ) But it was still a good read, and I would recommend it to the Vampire Minded out there. And there is very little Sexual Content, for those who prefer thier vampires PG.

*plops down in the corner of Rainyy's couch with a soda and some books* Okay, so I just finished two awesome book and am reading another that I don't like nearly as much as the others in the series. Okay, so the first is Evvy's Civil War. The chapter titles tell a lot about the story, so I'll just list them. Prologue:In which I Introduce Myself and Wax Philosophical One:In which I Become A Lady Against My Will Two:In Which I Acquire My Locket and Am Ordered to Attend a Dinner. (this is a favorite chapter of mine, because a horrible reverend talks about how it is bad and sinful for women to be educated and all that garbage and Evvy (the main character) speaks up about how that isn't true) Three:In Which I First Glimpse the Enemy Four:In Which I Fire My First Shots Five:In Which I Fail to Enlist Daisy, but She Recruits Me (Daisy is a slave and her best friend, plus technically they're cousins, but you'll have to read to find out how that happened. Six:Ikn Which I Absorb New Vies on Marriage and Anticipate Goddesses (the goddesses are her quaker cousins, Atha and Sophie) Seven:In Which We Furnish Classrooms and Face Danger Eight:In Which I Begin Collecting Secrets of My OLwn Nine:In Which The Goddesses Settle In And Unsettle Me. Ten:In Which I Begin To Accomodate to Ladyhood eleven:In Which I Am Cured of Blindness and Brave The cold and Dark Twelve:In Which I Discover My Quaker Roots and Mr.s Stowe. Thirteen:In Which We Discover Helen of Troy( cousin Virginia's ladies maid Rebecca) Fourteen:In Which The Mystery Increases and I Make a Rash Promise Fifteen:In Which The Mumps Complicate Life Seventeen:In Which I Confide in My Cousins Eighteen:IN Which I Beging to Discover the Real Great-aunt Jane Nineteen:In Which I Uncover Secrets That Are Not Amusing Twenty:In Which The Bad Times Being in Earnest Twenty-one:In Which I Acquire A Slave Twenty-two:In Which I Acquire A School Twenty Three:In Which We Prepare for War and Atha Tells a Secret Twenty-four:In Which I Bid Farewell to Romance Twenty-five:In Which School, War, and Childbirth Collide Twenty-six:In Which Providence Intervenes and Sophie is Married (although Sophie was having a baby at the same time) Twenty-seven:In Which Dabney Surpries Me Again (Dabney is Virginia's brother) Twenty-eight:In Which I Resemble Great-aunt Jane More than Ever Twenty-Nine: In Which I Celebrate a Most Unusual Birthday I also just finished Twilight for a fourth time and am reading New Moon for a fourth time.

Those sound very, very interesting! Blood-Ties? It sounds familiar, but I haven't read a book about it. Hehe - PG-13 Vampires. Pssh! I read books that are probably for 18+ year olds, but who cares? House of Night is very good, and I just finished reading the series. Don't read my review because I think I gave away far too much! Evvys Civil War sounds great! I might try and find it in the store when I get some money. Karma to both of you when my hours are up.

I started reading it when I was in 5th grade. And then I sort of read it several more times. And I just keep reading it again. My mom's reading it now. As soon as I get Annie Between The States I'll give you a description of that one. It's a favorite of mine. I read that in between reading the Harry Potter books and Evvy's Civil War. I never thought of buying them. *smacks forehead*

P.S. I just finished reading Changed this past weekend. It was pretty good. Very different than what I thought it was going to be, but in the good way.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be different too! But turns out it was very, very different to what I can expect. Normally I can easily predict what happens in a book, but this time I was proven wrong! I sure hope there's a 4th book! I hate cliffhangers

I'm ALMOST finished with The Devil's Arithmetic. It's really good. It's a book about a girl named Hannah who was having a Seder with her family when she was transported back in time and become Chaya Abramowicz, who lives with her Aunt Gitl and her Aunt's brother Shmuel. They are on the way to Shmuel's wedding to a girl named Fayge when a bunch of Nazi's take them to a prison camp and make them work. Chaya and her friends from the wedding befriend a girl named Rivka who helps them learn about the camp. So one night Gitl, Chaya, Shmuel, and a few other people try to escape. They are caught and the men are killed the next morning. I think Shmuel was one of them, I'm not positive. I still have a few chapters to go, though.

Hey book clubbers... I got a new book on the weekend, wel two! One's called Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith, the other called Immortal and I'm unsure who's it by. Of course their genre is vampire/fantasy, etc. My favourite type. I'm almost halfway through Tantalize and will soon post what it's about and a review. ;D P.S. There were like 3 other books I wanted to get from the book store too, but I didn't have enough 'simoleans', lol. See, there is no bookstore where we live so we have to go to 'out of town' for one.

Maddelena: I've seen the movie, and it was heart wrenching, and at time slightly sickening. I haven't been brave enough to read the book. If the movie was accurate to the book, it will break you. But don't skip ahead! Rainyy: I know what you mean about going out of town. The closest thing to a book store we have here is the Walmart book section, which in comprised of 4 shelves; one for Romance (which tends to get just a little more smutty than even I am comfortable with), one for children (which has Harry Potter and Hannah Montanna, thats it), one for Bibles and other religious works, and one for magazines. Lol. My wish list on B&N is currently at 143 books. Think I can manage that many?

LOL! Maybe Chrissy. If I went to that bookstore, I'd go insane cos by the sounds of things they don't have a fantasy section. Oops, I mean the bookpart of walmart There is a place to buy books here, but there in Big W, and the book section and not much variety - i prefer actual book shops. By the way, Tantalize is great so far. 100 Pages to go!

The Harry Potter collection *is* the fantasy section, lol.
Though the Romace "section" does have a variety of fantasy. I just purchased a book the other day about a Scottish werewolf who has run away to America to escape the pressures of being Pack Heir, only to be followed and betrayed by his cousin, who wants to take over the pack himself, and then the world. Suprise, suprise, huh? He gets all wounded and is rescued by a dog lover (how can she leave the poor, defenseless, wounded, MASSIVE WOLF! all by itself in the cold?). Anyway, they fall in love and he takes her back to Scotland where they save the world and live happily ever after. It was pretty good.
