I wrote this when I had a random moment of inspiration. I started it, and had half a sentence before I stopped. Well, I changed it from one of those annoyingly common romances to a most likely overdone topic that you'll have to read about yourself. Although it should be different than most. I hope....
Chapter One
Trina sighed in contentment. It was a warm summer day, and she was lying on the cool grass of the huge field on the edge of her mother's property. Her boyfriend Jackson had his arm around her shoulders. Trina was about to stay with her grandmother for two long days and she wouldn't get to see Jackson until she got back.
"TRINA! Nanna is here!" Her mother yelled from the distant house. The two rose form the ground, getting rid of the many bits of grass and twigs on their backs. Jackson gave Trina a quick good-bye kiss. They started running in opposite directions; Trina moving quickly through the grass towards her house while Jackson sprinted athleticly across the fields to his house right outsider her mother's farm.
"Ah, Trina my dear. How is Joe?" Nanna asked.
"Hin Nanna," Trina said, " and his name is Jackson," she muttered. Nanna blushed and made an excuse about how it wasn't her fault she was a crazy cat lady.
The weekend passed by quickly. Until the last day. Trina had been helping Nanna clean out her attic when she saw an old photo album. Because she was naturally curious, Trina opened it. The inside cover had "This is the property of Karina Marshall" written in it. The first picture was one of Trina's mother Karina and a boy that the caption under the picture described as Bradley Meyers. She didn't recognize this guy. Trina walked ot the attic stairs.
"Nanna, " she called, "who is Bradley Meyers?" Trina asked. Nanna's face had an expression of shock that was quickly replaced with a casual expression.
"Just a friend of youre mother's, dear." Nanna said quietly. Trina looked again at the old picture. Nanna interrupted her thoughts.
"Trina! Your mother is here, she says to hurry!"
"Er...okay!" Trina yelled, stuffing the album in her bag. Trina took the stairs two at a time and dashed out to Karina's car.
"How was your weekend?" Karina asked, eyeing the large book-shaped lump in her daughter's bag.
"It was great. I found an old photo album. Who's Bradley?"
Karina's face showed her overwhelming shock for a few seconds before she regained control of her emotions and plastered a more neutral expression on her face.
"He was my boyfriend when I first graduated college. We met at a party celebrating our graduation. We dated for a few months. He proposed and we got married a month before I found out about you. As soon as I told him that, he panicked. He hadn't wanted kids yet, said he wasn't ready for it. So he left a few nights later." Karina whispered so low that Trina could hardly hear her.
"Where is he now?" Asked Trina softly.
"He lives in Fairfield Bay. I haven't spoken to him since."
Trina was shocked. Every time she had asked her mother what her dad was like, Karina had said that they hadn't been able to settle their differences so he head left her.She would then walk off muttering about feeding the horses.
"Mom," Trina asked her, "I want to find him" she whispered. Karina was so dumbfounded that she nearly crashed the car.
